Mixed Delivery uses public funding to help eligible families access childcare at participating centers and family day homes. Foundation First coordinates the program in our region, working with the Virginia Early Childhood Foundation and the Virginia Department of Education.
Care is available throughout the year, with hours varying by provider. Families arrange their own transportation.

Family copayments are based on household income. Ask the Mixed Delivery coordinator to confirm your family’s eligibility, monthly cost, and available spaces.

Mixed Delivery provides funding through contracts with participating private, non-faith-based childcare programs serving eligible children. Payments use a Cost-of-Quality model, which accounts for the expenses involved in providing quality care, including compensation for educators.
This funding helps programs invest in their teachers through salaries and benefits, so they can support the people caring for and teaching young children.

Your family’s cost depends on household income. Some families pay nothing, while others pay a monthly amount toward care, called a copayment. Before enrollment, the program will determine your payment amount, so you can understand the cost and decide how it fits your family’s budget. Qualifying doesn’t automatically mean care is free.
